Withhold No Good Words

A few years ago the Spirit nudged me to stop withholding good words.

From my husband, from my friends, from acquaintances, from strangers.

If I thought a good word about them in my head, I was going to bring it to life and say it. (or in some cases, type it.)

I still fail at this daily, but it’s constantly on my mind.

What if we were people that withheld no good words?

If we think of something encouraging when we see someone’s post on Instagram, what if we voiced it? If you like the glasses of the Starbucks worker, what if we risked looking weird to let them know, and possibly make their day? If you love the sweatshirt of a stranger you walk by at the store, what if we told them? If you see your friend is gifted somewhere, what if you reminded them of their gifts and spurred them on in that? If you see your husband working hard for your family, what if you reminded him that you’re grateful and his labor doesn’t go unnoticed?

What if our good words changed the world? What if they changed our marriages? What if they shaped our friendships? What if they make that random stranger’s day? What if we chose to champion each other on in our unique gifts/callings from the Lord?

CAN YOU EVEN BEGIN TO IMAGINE IF WE CHOSE TO WITHHOLD NO GOOD WORDS?

Good words change things.

Join me, friends. Let’s withhold no good words.

Stop RIGHT NOW, and shoot a text or voice memo to a friend! Ask God to bring someone to mind.

“So whoever knows the right thing to do and fails to do it, for him it is sin.” James 4:17

“Kind words are like honey— sweet to the soul and healthy for the body.” Proverbs 16:24

Instagram saw it first.
