Bondage
Who told you that you were naked?
//
A little bondage is still bondage.
One size fits all.
Small or big, it’s all the same.
Chained.
Held captive.
Enslaved.
//
What is the thing you think about constantly?
What is the thing you think about yourself constantly?
What is the thought that always sneaks into your head?
//
Some chains we’ve decorated.
They’re adorned with gold and lace now.
We’ve convinced ourselves they don’t hold any power
over our thoughts, our decisions, our lives.
It’s just a chain, no big deal. It’s a long leash.
I’m essentially free.
//
Who the Son sets free is free indeed.
Not: Who the Son sets free is mostly free.
//
It’s hard to find freedom when you don’t know you’re in bondage.
//
What’s that one thing you think every time you pass by a mirror
or see a photo of yourself?
//
“Just be sure to keep her focused on her crooked smile, cellulite,
or aging skin. If you can make her believe she is too much or not enough, unwanted, not remembered, or not valued that will
take her out of the game for the Enemy,” Screwtape said to Wormwood, “If she thinks about these things for so long
without realizing it’s bondage, she won’t even see it as a big deal that it’s perpetually in her subconscious. It’s just normal now.
Keep the narrative rolling in her head— every mirror she passes by or photo she views of herself, or after every gathering with others or when no one seems to reach out to her,
she’ll be so consumed with these suffocating thoughts.
Keep her eyes focused on herself, and off of that cross, especially.
Distract her. Discourage her. Make her long for the things of this world. Assure her those will help her find value, worth, freedom.”
//
“Oh, and make sure she keeps scrolling mindlessly on that thing. That is always to our advantage.
Give her another dopamine hit from the waters that leave her parched, begging for more— man’s approval, power, social status.
Like someone who is dehydrated taking a gulp of salt water—
Satisfied for a moment,
when they’re really killing themselves faster.
And lastly, do anything to keep her from that disgusting
living water that will open her eyes and bring freedom,
that is the last thing we want.
Be sure it stays on the shelf.
Phone, work, social life, church groups, serving, schedule, exhaustion…whatever you have to do to keep it collecting dust.
Mind you, this is pivotal to our success. ”
//
Maybe you’re not really free.
Maybe you just got a bigger cage.
//
Who told you you were too much?
Who told you you were not enough?
//
What if you could be free?
What if the Truth really could set you free?
//
It is for freedom that Christ has set us free.
Stand firm, then, and do not let yourselves
be burdened again by a yoke of slavery.
//
His voice doesn’t sound like that.
//
So I’ll ask you again, who told you that you were naked?
